ST. PETER’S UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST EASTER EGG
ROLL – St. Peter’s United Church of Christ will hold its annual children’s
Easter egg roll at approximately 11 a.m. following the morning service Easter
Sunday, March 31, on the church grounds at 700 E. 110th St., Kansas City,
Mo. The public is invited
to this free event. Children will receive small prizes for participating. For

sequester, the White House announced it will hold its Easter egg roll as usual
on Easter Monday, April 1. President Rutherford B. Hayes started the tradition
when he opened the White House South Lawn for the first official egg roll in
1878, in defiance of a law Congress passed forbidding children’s activities
that would damage the landscaping.
GRANDVIEW HISTORICAL SOCIETY’S GREEN DINNER –
The Grandview Historical Society will hold their
annual "Green Dinner" on Sunday, March 17, at 1:00, in the Depot
Museum. Society board members will furnish the main course.
Everyone who attends should bring a salad, vegetable, or dessert dish.
Drinks and table service will be provided. Mary Beth Craddock has
provided us with a travelog of a trip to Ireland. Wear some green and
join us for some good food, good friends, and good fun!
WORLD WAR SERIES AT TRAILSIDE CENTER
–
The Trailside Center will continue its World War
series on March 14 at 7 pm and March 15 at 1:30 pm with the topic “B29 Bombing
Missions Over Japan.” Rich
Grossman, B29 Flight Engineer, who flew 29 bombing missions, will be the guest
speaker. There will be a B29 video and a nice surprise.
GRACE POINT BAPTIST CHURCH
EGG HUNT –
Grace Point Baptist Church invites all neighborhood children to a free egg hunt,
Saturday, March 30, 2013, 9:30 a.m.
The hunt will be conducted, outside
weather permitting or inside if necessary, at Grace Point

Meet on the lower parking lot, and bring
a basket or container to collect eggs.
The egg hunt is a fun event welcoming
spring and is closely associated with the celebration of the resurrection of
Christ.
INTERNATIONALLY
RECOGNIZED ARTIST BOB BYERLY OPENS KC SHOW: A KINDER, GENTLER TIME IN AMERICA – Missouri native, Bob Byerley, opens his show, A Kinder,
Gentler Time in America, in Grandview, Missouri,
this week, at The View, located at 13500
Byars Rd. The show runs through May 15 and
officially kicks off Thursday, March 21, from 6-8 PM with a “meet the artist”
event, which is open to the public.
Byerley’s trademark style of painting the souls of children in highly
imaginative, meticulously detailed Americana
images has earned him commissions by Disney and placed his work in 2,000
galleries throughout the U.S.
and Canada.
The Grandview
show features 25 of Byerley’s best nostalgic works, including Heroes and
Villains, Final Heat, and Jackpot. Kansas Citians are encouraged to come see
the show at their leisure Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 8 PM or Sundays
from 10 AM to 8 PM through May 15.
Many of Byerley’s most famous works showcase what childhood was like
nearly 60 years ago during much simpler times than today.
CORONATION OF OUR LADY
CHURCH’S ANNUAL ST. JOSEPH’S TABLE –
Coronation of Our Lady church, located at 13000 Bennington in Grandview,
invites you to their annual St. Joseph’s
Table on Sunday, March 17. The blessing of the table will be after the 8:30
a.m. Mass. Viewing of the table is immediately after the blessing. Traditional St. Patrick’s Day dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m.
until 4:00 p.m. Dinner will be pasta Milanese, salad, bread, wine or soft
drinks, and dessert. Cost is $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for children (12 and
under). Booths will feature bread, cookies, and cannoli.
All
proceeds will be donated to Holy Family Catholic Worker House and Coronation’s
Food Pantry. There is an increase in families who need assistance from our Food
Pantry. Please be generous with your time and donations to help support this
necessary ministry of the parish.

KANSAS CITY COMMUNITY
GARDENS TAKING TOUR RESERVATIONS AND RUNNING WORKSHOPS NOW – The Beanstalk Children's Garden, 6917 Kensington in
Swope Park, opens June 12. Morning and
afternoon tours are available from mid-June to mid-July and September through
closing in October. During the heat of the summer, mid-July through
August, only morning tours will be available. Tour times book quickly, so

The Beanstalk Children's Garden is part of Kansas City Community
Gardens, a not-for-profit organization
that has provided over 30 years of self help gardening in garden plots

SPRING BREAK AT STARLIGHT THEATRE CAMP –
Spring Break is the
perfect time for kids in Kansas City
to discover new skills, hidden talents and the thrill of performance! Starlight Theatre
Academy is offering a one-week Spring Break Camps for ages 6-14 from
March 18-22 at Starlight Theatre in Swope
Park.
Campers, working in age-appropriate groups,
will spend a week alongside theatre professionals to explore acting, singing,
and dance skills while rehearsing for a production that they will perform for
family and friends on the Starlight stage at the end of the week. Campers will
contribute to the creation of the set, props, and costuming for the
performance. They will also enjoy some classic camp games and craft
activities. No experience is necessary.
Starlight's Spring Break Camps are scheduled
from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; check-in begins at 8 a.m.
Participants must bring a sack lunch. Morning and
afternoon snacks will be provided. The cost is $225 for a week. Before Care is
available beginning at 7:30 a.m. for an additional $5 per day; After Care is
available until 5:30 p.m. for an additional $15 per day.

HEALTHY HARVEST MOBILE
MARKET TO STOP AT HILLCREST - The TMC Healthy Harvest
Mobile Market unit will help bring better food choices directly to the people
of the community each week. The Mobile Market will stop by Hillcrest Community Center
every Thursday from 12 pm to 2 pm.
The TMC Healthy Harvest Mobile Market is a mobile
grocery store unit that will travel throughout the urban core on a weekly basis
bringing residents opportunities to purchase healthy choices such as fresh
fruits and vegetables in their community at an affordable cost. The full size,
specially equipped bus will make stops every Tuesday and Thursday.
In addition to fresh produce and some
non-perishable items, education will be a major focus of the Healthy Harvest
Mobile Market with nutritionists and dieticians available to help teach
customers how to eat healthier and new dishes that can be made from mobile
market stock available for purchase.

FREE COUNSELING FOR SOUTH KANSAS CITY/CASS COUNTY VETERANS
–The Vietnam Veteran Counseling
Service is offering free counseling to ANY VETERANS from WWII to present.
Sessions will be held the 2nd Friday of each month from 10 a.m. to
11:30 a.m. Sessions will be conducted by a trained psychologist, who is also a
Veteran, who specializes in Veteran’s matters. The sessions will be conducted

SECOND FRIDAYS AT TRAILSIDE CENTER – South Kansas City residents gather every month at
the 7:30 a.m. for 2nd Friday meeting at the Trailside Center, located NEXT to
the fire station at the SE corner of 99th & Holmes. The public is invited,
and light refreshments will be served
GRANDVIEW BOARD OF
ALDERMEN - Normally, meetings are
at 7 p.m. each Tuesday at the Municipal
Services Building
(City Hall). The public is welcome to attend. The board alternates regular
sessions, at which votes are taken, and work sessions, at which issues are
discussed.
KC CITY COUNCIL – 3 p.m. Thursdays at City Hall, 414 E. 12th St. The public is welcome to

FUNDRAISERS
CAC NEEDS MEALS ON WHEELS DRIVERS – The Community Assistance Council has openings for two
drivers to begin a new route. Time commitment is 1-2 hours, delivering the
noonday meal. A valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance is
required, and a background check is completed. With the start of a new
route, CAC can assist over half of those individuals currently on our waiting
list receive home delivered meals. This program helps senior, homebound
residents stay in their homes, and offers a well-care check to those without
family in the immediate vicinity. Please consider this as an opportunity to
help senior citizens with a small amount of time commitment.

always needs food and personal hygiene items!
We are in immediate need of macaroni and cheese, cereal and canned soup
(any kind). Any donations are appreciated! Thank
you! Specifically, we are in need of canned tomato products, canned peas, boxed
meals, toilet paper and Kleenex, but all donations are welcome! Financial
contributions allow CAC to help families with rent, utility assistance,
transportation, home maintenance, and unexpected needs. For more information on

Grandview Assistance Program, 1121 Main St, Grandview,
for 20 years now has provided emergency food, utility, rent assistance and
more to low-income families and individuals in Grandview and the Grandview C-4 school

appointment. Those who can donate food, cash, school or hygiene
supplies or other assistance, please contact Grandview Assistance Program
